I have ehlers danlos syndrome so alot of pain day to day so take codeine daily at a pretty high dose anyway. I’ve been pushing for more investigations for a year and got nowhere just constantly increasing pain meds because xrays, mri all clear 🙄 it’s frustrating as hell, especially as I’ve been to the doctors several times over the last 6 months about my back and gotten turned away and told its muscular.
Until I was about 20 I refused to take pain meds, even paracetamol except for broken bones/dislocations and then kept it to a bare minimum because I have a really high pain tolerance. Now huge doses of opioids aren’t even helping with the pain.
I have a curve in my spine too which my mum pushed and pushed for them to look into it when i was younger, they said it was a posture problem and I just needed to stand up straight… Still curved, have a lump at the base of my neck too which has now been explained as the EDS meaning the supports around my spine weren’t strong enough to hold it straight as I was growing. I’ve had meningitis and encephalitis since then, now this. There are a few comorbidities with EDS that can cause it, but they didn’t see it coming. I really feel like this could have been prevented and hope that there’s no permanent damage that could have been avoided if they had done their job rather than ignore it until it becomes a problem.
I’m 24, where the hell am i gonna be when im older at this rate.
