Its low carb that has the best effect rather than low calorie – in fact many of the T2s on the diabetes forum do low carb, high fat if their cholesterol can cope. The fat needed to replace the energy that you’re no longer getting from carbs. The trick is healthy fats rather than overloading on the red meat.
Many of them transform their health this way and if you’ve got a blood glucose monitor then its worth testing before a meal and 2 hours afterwards to see the effect different foods have on your blood sugar.
