I would say that if you only have a cataract in one eye, for goodness’ sake do *not* mess with the healthy eye. Especially since you say it’s injury related, which means there should be little danger of one developing in the good eye (unless you go on to injure that one too).
I’ve had cataracts in both eyes and surgery for them, and although the results are good they’re not the same as natural lenses and may include side effects that are minor but annoying. If you’re told that having mixed eyes doesn’t work, I can also point out that it was years between getting my first and second eyes fixed; the eye surgeons were in no hurry and I noticed no ill effects
