So my optician identified a cataract in my right eye which she reckons is the result of a historic injury.
I had exactly the same about three years ago except it was my left eye. I was only advised to get the affected eye done and I’m glad I did because although my ‘good’ eye is deteriorating with age (I’m 43) it’s still good enough to use for reading without glasses in a pinch, whereas for my cataract eye I ideally need the glasses on.
I don’t notice much difference when out and about in the outdoors – it’s really just for close up work that I have any kind of issues.
I’d never heard of varifocal implants and wasn’t given the option. I’d like to get mine replaced when they can implant a super zoom lens with overlaid AR into the lens sometime in the future though 🙂
