That’s the crux of my dilemma really. Left eye’s OK for distance (number plate at 20m) but can’t make out fine print. The right eye with the cataract is just about good enough for fine print but awful for distance. Between them I can drive and read (in decent light) without glasses and I’m worried any op on the right eye will leave me permanently in need of reading glasses. The varifocal implant seems like a solution but Google just seems to throw up horror stories, which seems par for the course whenever you Google anything vaguely medical.
I wouldn’t even be considering the cataract surgery at this point if it wasn’t for emerging issues with night time driving, especially in the wet.
